nib partners with Honeysuckle Health to offer members free access to digital mental health platform

nib Group (nib) has partnered with Honeysuckle Health to offer our members free access to digital mental health platform, SilverCloud Health (SilverCloud), to help empower them to take proactive steps to look after their mental health and wellbeing.

From 3 August 2021, 25,000 nib members will be invited to access the platform as part of a 12-month pilot providing access to a range of supported and self-guided mental health and wellbeing online programs.

nib Chief Executive Australian Residents Health Insurance, Ed Close said members can choose to complete the mental health programs on their own or with the support of a Mental Health supporter.

“Each interaction is unique to the member depending on the type of support they need and with over 20 mental health programs available, including self-guided and one-on-one support, we hope our members will feel equipped to better manage common health issues, like stress, anxiety and poor sleep, every day,” Mr Close said.

The pilot is part of nib’s Payer to Partner journey with a focus on providing greater access to personalised treatment and care for our members as we move away from being a traditional payer of claims and towards our ambition of becoming a health partner.

“Our focus is as much about keeping our members healthy and out of hospital as it is about paying claims when they’re sick or requiring hospitalisation.

“This pilot is an example of this thinking, using digital methods to equip members with the tools and techniques they can use to better manage their health and in turn, prevent the development of more serious health issues down the track,” Mr Close said.

The SilverCloud platform is registered as a Medical Device, Class 1 on the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA) however is not designed to replace the care that may already be provided to members by a psychiatrist, psychologist, GP or specialist.

nib strongly recommends that members discuss the use of the SilverCloud program with their medical specialist or GP to ensure it’s the right fit for their health needs.

More information will be sent to a pilot group of nib members about the program and how to participate via their preferred method of correspondence.

Upon successful completion of the pilot, we will explore the opportunity to open the program to all members on an ongoing basis.
